star this property answer text <p>FOXHOUND is a Cabinet Office-led, cross-government IT programme to develop and deploy a new secure capability for managing sensitive information, including that which is classified up to and at SECRET. The aim is to bear down on the growing information and cyber risk, whilst improving scope for collaboration across the National Security community. star this property answer text <p>Each government department or organisation connected to the PSN is responsible for procuring its own connectivity services separately from a group of approved providers. Since almost 700 public sector organisations across central government, local government and other public agencies and bodies use the PSN, it is not possible for Cabinet Office to report on the total cost to the public purse.</p><p>The National Audit Office 2016 “Protecting information across government” report reported that the project saved £406 million across government over the 4 years between 2011/12 and 2014/15.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Cabinet Office does not require central reporting of data breaches by government departments.</p><p> </p><p>The <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-minimum-cyber-security-standard" target="_blank">minimum cyber security standard</a> outlines the communications required by a department when there is a security incident that impacts on sensitive information or key operational services.</p><p> </p><p>The Government Security Group would be involved in the response to a category one or two</p><p>cyber security incident impacting a central government department(s), however to date an incident of this type has not occurred.</p><p> </p><p>The <a href="https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/news/annual-review-2018" target="_blank">National Cyber Security Centre’s Annual Report (2018)</a> provides the total number of incidents it has dealt with over the past year.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>There are several commercial Protective DNS services available alongside the one provided by the NCSC. We do not hold the figure on how many Departments use these commercial providers and can only provide information for those using the NCSC offer. Of the 45 ministerial and non-ministerial departments there are 25 using, or are in the process of adopting the NCSC service. GSG and NCSC are actively working with Departments to adopt the use of the PDNS service.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>It is not possible to send spoof emails from a @GOV.UK domain address, so none have been sent from an address using the @GOV.UK domain since June 2016. This is due to the technical controls in place that prevent the forging of a GOV.UK email address (Sender Policy Framework and Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance).</p><p> </p><p>The responsibility for monitoring of fake emails using the GOV.UK suffix is not conducted centrally. Cabinet Office guidance sets out that users receiving fraudulent emails should notify Action Fraud, or in the case of HMRC emails, HMRC's phishing team.</p><p> </p> more like this

At that time, the NCSC had a team of approximately 700 people. At the end of its second year, in October 2018, the NCSC had a team of approximately 850 people. star this property answer text <p>As set out in their 2018 Annual Report, the Huawei Cyber Security Evaluation Centre Oversight Board noted no causes for concern in the number of staff and their skills.</p><p>GCHQ keeps up to date with the latest technology and trends in cyber security by engaging with industry, academia and nurturing the next generation of cyber security specialists. We will not comment on GCHQ staffing due to reasons of national security.</p><p> </p><p>The Government Security Profession in the Cabinet Office is working closely with the wider public and private sector to shape the Government security profession framework to support HMG staffing levels and manage their cyber skills gaps.</p><p> </p> more like this
