star this property answer text <p>On 20th April, my Rt. Hon. Friend Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer announced a £1.25 billion coronavirus package to protect firms driving innovation in the UK. This included £750 million of targeted support for the most R&amp;D intensive small and medium size firms which will be available through Innovate UK’s grants and loan scheme.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has since confirmed that up to £500 million of this is for existing customers including £20<ins class="ministerial">0</ins> million of accelerated payments and up to £30<ins class="ministerial">0</ins> million for continuity grants and loans. £20 million of the remainder has been used to double the number of businesses receiving funding through the Innovate UK call for business led innovation in response to the crisis which was open to new customers. Over 800 companies have been successful in this competition. Innovate UK has also allocated up to £39 million to increase the business advisory support services available new and existing high-growth potential SMEs.</p><p> </p><p>The final part of this package was announced on the 27<sup>th</sup> June. The £191 million Sustainable Innovation Fund is open to new customers to help cutting-edge companies of all sizes recover, grow, and drive a re-building economy as well as support new green innovations, unleashing the sustainable industries of the future along the way.</p><p> </p><p>Beyond the Fast-Response competition, it is currently too early to state the number of businesses that have accessed this funding</p>

star this property answer text <p><del class="ministerial">The Government has been in commercial negotiations with both EDF and the Sizewell C project company since January 2021. These negotiations are ongoing and commercially sensitive.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The Government is accelerating all sources of domestic energy, including North Sea oil and gas production. Subject to the Climate Compatibility Checkpoint, The North Sea Transition Authority will be launching a new licensing round for North Sea oil and gas shortly, which is expected to lead to over 100 new licences being awarded.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial"> </ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The Government will also end the pause on shale gas extraction. Having domestic sources of gas makes us less dependent on foreign imports.</ins></p> more like this

Under competition law, responsibility for investigating individual and market-wide competition issues falls to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the UK’s competition authority.</del></p><p> </p><p><del class="ministerial">The Government has ensured that the CMA has significant powers and expertise to investigate anti-competitive practices. Consumers and businesses can report concerns regarding competition issues to the CMA.</del></p><p> </p><p><del class="ministerial">The Government continues to work with the CMA and other consumer and retail organisations to monitor the extent of profiteering, and will update the law if it is proportionate to do so.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The Government is committed to tackling consumer rip-offs and bad business practices. The Government has ensured that the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has significant powers and expertise to investigate such issues.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial"> </ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">Under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, it is a criminal offence to provide consumers with misleading information or omit important details about a product they are purchasing. </ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial"> </ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">Under competition law, the CMA is responsible for investigating individual and market-wide competition issues. Consumers and businesses should report concerns about competition issues to the CMA.</ins></p>
