answer text <p>Businesses across North Yorkshire are benefitting from this Government’s investment of over £840 million through the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding and Leeds City Region Growth Deals. This is providing financial assistance to local businesses, as well as improving infrastructure and skills.</p><p> </p><p>For instance, £47 million LGF award will release significant private sector investment in the York Central project. This £100 million urban regeneration will accommodate up to 7,000 jobs, and create more than 112,000 square meters of new retail, leisure and commercial space.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Department routinely receives correspondence from members of the public and civil society groups in relation to the regulatory regime for shale gas extraction, including the traffic light system.</p><p> </p><p>The Traffic Light System for monitoring induced seismicity was introduced after consideration of advice from scientists, following operations at Cuadrilla’s Preese Hall site in 2011. The level of magnitude 0.5 at which operators must pause operations, was set in consultation with industry as an appropriate precautionary measure. These regulations have been working as intended and there are no plans to review the traffic light system.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The UK regulatory regime for shale gas is considered among the most robust and stringent in the world.  In October 2018 we established a Shale Environmental Regulator Group (SERG) to act as a single-entry point for the environmental regulation of the shale gas industry and bring the three regulators (Oil and Gas Authority, the Environment Agency and the Health and Safety Executive) together to act as one coherent entity.</p><p> </p><p>Local communities have met with the regulators at public information events and community liaison groups. During fracking operations at the Preston New Road site in Lancashire the regulators provided newsletters to residents and published information online on ‘Citizen Space’, including inspection reports and results from environmental monitoring. The regulators are visible and responding to community concerns.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Feed-in Tariffs scheme will close to new applicants, subject to certain time limited grace periods and extensions, on 31 March 2019.</p><p> </p><p>On 8 January, Government published a consultation on the future for small-scale low-carbon generation, providing visibility of the proposals for a Smart Export Guarantee.</p><p> </p><p>This consultation will close on 5 March; responses will be analysed to inform future policy development, and government will respond in due course.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>We received 345 responses to the consultation on the proposed closure of the Feed-in Tariffs scheme held last year. Of these, 169 were from members of the public and 43 were from civil society groups.</p><p> </p><p>Since the Government response was published on 18 December 2018, confirming closure of the scheme, we have received further representations on the issue from over 60 members of the public via their MP (46 in response to a civil society group campaign) and three civil society groups.</p> more like this
