answer text <p>The Government committed in the Clean Growth Strategy to look at a trajectory to improve as many privately rented homes as possible to Energy Performance Band C by 2030, where practical, cost-effective, and affordable.</p><p> </p><p>The £500m Sustainable Warmth Competition, which brings together two fuel poverty schemes; Local Authority Delivery and the Home Upgrade Grant, will deliver energy efficiency upgrades by March 2023 to eligible households living on and off the gas grid. BEIS is working with local authorities across England to promote energy efficient measures to all residents. BEIS encourages interested private tenants to discuss the benefits of the schemes and their eligibility with their landlord before contacting their local authority.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Support is available to upgrade homes where tenants in the private rented sector are on a low income.</p><p> </p><p>Under the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) private renters in F and G homes, in receipt of certain benefits, are eligible for solid wall insulation and renewable heating measures, as these measures are expected to exceed landlords cost caps to improve the energy efficiency of their property.</p><p> </p><p>Under the Local Authority Delivery scheme and the Home Upgrade Grant, privately rented EPC F and G rated properties with a MEES regulations exemption, can receive funding provided tenants meet the low income eligibility criteria. Landlords must contribute one third of the total cost of the energy efficiency and low carbon upgrades.</p><p> </p><p>Financial support with energy bills is also available to eligible households through the Warm Home Discount, Winter Fuel Payment and Cold Weather Payment.</p> more like this

answer text <p>If a privately rented EPC F/G property has an exemption from MEES then it could be eligible for Sustainable Warmth funding (as the landlord has met the regulations by applying successfully as an exemption). The householder must be on a low income and funding depends on geographical location. Southampton City Council has been successful in securing LAD3 funding under the Sustainable Warmth competition.</p><p> </p><p>For low-income tenants in on-gas grid properties, the landlord must contribute at least one third of the total cost of upgrading the property within the relevant cost caps.</p><p> </p><p>The Boiler Upgrade Scheme, expected to launch in April this year, will provide grants to property owners, including private landlords, for the installation of low carbon heating technologies such as heat pumps. [The property must have a valid EPC which does not have outstanding recommendations for loft or cavity wall insulation.]</p> more like this
