answer text
Across Government we are making huge strides towards rebalancing the economy and empowering local government. We have agreed devolution deals with nine areas across England, with a directly elected mayor in place in six of those already. We have also agreed City Region deals with Cardiff and Swansea regions in Wales. These deals are about much more than just funding. They are about strengthening local leadership and giving local communities greater control over the decisions that affect them. However we have invested to support these deals. In English devolution deals we have given areas control over new long term investment funds. In Welsh City Deals we have invested in proposals to support key sectors and drive growth in the local economy.

As I’m sure the Hon Member knows, the Chancellor of the Exchequer also announced at Autumn Budget 2017 that Government will begin formal negotiations towards a North Wales growth deal.

Devolution deal announcements can be found in the following links:

West Midlands: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/west-midlands-devolution-deal

Greater Manchester: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/devolution-to-the-greater-manchester-combined-authority-and-transition-to-a-directly-elected-mayor

Liverpool: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/liverpool-devolution-deal

Sheffield City Region: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/466616/Sheffield_devolution_deal_October_2015_with_signatures.pdf

Tees Valley: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/tees-valley-devolution-deal

West of England: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/west-of-england-devolution-deal

Peterborough and Cambridgeshire: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/cambridgeshire-and-peterborough-devolution-deal

Cardiff Capital Region: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/city-deal-cardiff-capital-region

Swansea Bay Region: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/611685/Swansea_City_Deal_-_English.pdf

I refer the Hon Member to the ONS link below for further information on population figures:

https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/populationandmigration/populationestimates/datasets/populationestimatesforukenglandandwalesscotlandandnorthernireland

answer text
The National Planning Policy Framework states that developments should, where practical, incorporate facilities for charging plug-in and other ultra-low emission vehicles. The level of parking provision in new developments is a decision for local planning authorities to make. Local Planning authorities should use the Framework, supporting planning guidance and local uptake of vehicles when making these decisions. As use of this technology grows, there are permitted development rights available for the installation of wall mounted and free-standing electric vehicle charging points in off-street parking areas.
more like this

answer text
Over 1,111,000 additional homes have been delivered in England since April 2010, with 217,350 net additional dwellings in 2016-17, up 15 per cent on 2015-16 and 50 per cent on 2009-10.

But the Prime Minister has been clear – this should be a country that works for everyone. This means building more of the right homes, in the right places, and ensuring the housing market works for all parts of our community.

So at Autumn Budget 2017, we announced further reforms to tackle our broken housing market, including Planning reforms to ensure more land is available for housing and maximise the potential of our cities and towns to build new homes whilst protecting the Green Belt; more than £15 billion of new financial support over the next five years, taking total financial support to at least £44 billion to 2022/2023, and expanding the Homes and Communities Agency to become Homes England, bringing together money, expertise, planning and compulsory purchase powers.

We also agreed a second Devolution Deal with the West Midlands, which included support for a new Mayoral Housing Delivery Team, and are continuing work on a Housing Deal to increase the supply of land and housing delivery across the West Midlands.

answer text
The number of direct employees that have left the Department, for any reason, since January 2015 is 930.

The Department collects national identity data from its employees on a voluntary basis. Where staff self-describe their national identity as ‘other’ there is no requirement to provide further detail or evidence of their nationality. As such we are unable to determine the number of non-UK EU nationals that have left the Department during the time in question.

This is lower than the number that left in the last three years of Labour.
