The overarching aims are to ensure registers are as complete and accurate as they can be and that the system of electoral registration is as efficient as possible. The Government is also working with student organistions such as Universities UK, and Association of Colleges to support the drive to ensure as many eligible people as possible are registered to vote.</p><p>Though for the most part, academic enrolment will not commence until September Higher education institutions, including Universities, are free to choose to integrate registration with their student enrolment processes. In addition the Cabinet Office has published a collection of free learning resources aimed at engaging young people in the democratic process. This includes Rock Enrol! which can be used in an educational setting and provides an opportunity for participants to register to vote. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/04/2016 answer text <p>Since financial year 2012/13 the Cabinet Office has provided funding to local authorities and civil society organisations to support the implementation and delivery of Individual Electoral Registration. Prior to financial year 2010/11 electoral registration policy was under the remit of the Ministry of Justice. The Cabinet Office does not hold any relevant financial data prior to 2010.</p><p>Local Authorities are under a statutory obligation to provide Electoral Registration Officers with funding and resources to support electoral registration more generally. Local Authorities are funded from a block grant that is allocated by the Department for Communities and Local Government.</p><p>The table below notes the funding provided by the Cabinet Office to local authorities and other groups and organisations in Great Britain. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/04/2016 answer text <p>The Government has amended the <a href="http://gov.uk/register-to-vote" target="_blank">gov.uk/register-to-vote</a> site to ensure electors are informed how to register for a postal or proxy vote and of the deadline to register before the upcoming May elections and EU referendum.</p><p> </p><p>Ahead of the referendum registered electors will also receive poll cards informing them how they can apply to vote by post or appoint a proxy.</p><p> </p><p>The Foreign and Commonwealth Office's overseas network is supporting the Electoral Commission in encouraging British nationals overseas who are eligible to vote to register. This is consistent with previous polls. This includes implementing public engagement strategies to target under registered groups which includes young people. The Government has made available a range of free online learning resources on voter registration. This part of the national curriculum is statutory at Key Stage 3 &amp; 4 and helps to prepare pupils to play a full and active part in society. Pupils learn about democracy, government and how laws are made and upheld. The Government has also developed a number of learning resources, including Rock Enrol!
