As a quarterly meeting, the Board has not met since I became Secretary of State. My predecessor joined Prime Minister May’s 2018 Africa visit, alongside two Welsh businesses.</p><p>I will ensure that the views and interests of Wales are voiced at future meetings as the UK Board of Trade works to promote trade and post-Brexit trade opportunities across the whole of the UK.</p><p>Boosting the opportunities available for Welsh businesses is a key priority for my team who work closely with the Department for International Trade to ensure Wales is represented in all trade talks and negotiation, not just the UK Board of Trade.</p><p>The UK-Africa Investment Summit will create new lasting partnerships that will deliver more investment and jobs. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/01/2020 answer text <p>I discuss a range of issues with my Cabinet colleagues including EU Exit.</p><p>The EU Settlement Scheme has been fully open since 30 March 2019. EU, other EEA and Swiss citizens, and their family members have until 30 June 2021 to apply. The EU Settlement Scheme is a free Scheme which enables EU, EEA and Swiss citizens resident in the UK, and their family members, to obtain the status they will require in order to live and work in the UK after it leaves the EU. The Government has always been clear that we will take a pragmatic approach and, in line with the Withdrawal Agreement, allow those with reasonable grounds for missing the deadline a reasonable further opportunity to apply. The UK Government is committed to supporting all parts of the UK, including delivering increased funding for Wales, and will continue to do so. The 2019 Spending Round provided the biggest day-to-day funding settlement for Wales in a decade with over £17bn in 2020-21 for the Welsh Government, an increase of over £600m. The Government has already secured substantial amounts of investment to improve the infrastructure in Wales, such as the new Intercity Express Trains on Great Western Main Line worth £5.7 billion, up to £58 million for the upgrade of Cardiff Central station and £4 million towards reopening Bow Street station. £69 million has been allocated for the rollout of superfast broadband across Wales and at Autumn Budget we announced a further £200 million for broadband for the hardest to reach areas and Wales will be included in the first phase of this work.</p><p>Nevertheless, there is more that we can do and I will continue to work with the Welsh Government, other UK Government departments to agree how to strengthen the Welsh economy and provide greater connectivity, ensuring that all interests are included when it comes to capital investment in Wales.</p> answering member constituency Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire answering member printed Simon Hart question first answered 24/01/2020 10:20:41 answering member 3944 label Biography information for Simon Hart

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/01/2020 answer text <p>The Government recognises there are significant benefits to both employers and employees when organisations and unions work together effectively to deliver high quality public services, but facility time within the public sector must be accountable and represent value for money.</p><p> </p><p>The Office of the Secretary of State for Wales (OSSW) understands that it has an obligation to provide reasonable paid time off to recognised trade union representatives to undertake trade union duties. This includes paid time off for safety representatives as set out in section 3.1.8 of the Civil Service Management Code.</p><p> </p><p>The Office is not an employer in its own right. Our staff are employed by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ).
