answer text <p>The Government-funded Emergency Towing Vessel in Scotland provides coverage for both the Northern and Western Isles of Scotland. The Maritime and Coastguard Agency is not aware of any occasions where a casualty vessel in need of a tow around the Western Isles has not been provided with a successful and effective towage service. No ship has grounded or sunk, nor has there been any pollution caused by a lack of an available tow.</p><p> </p><p>The Government will continue to keep the need for a towing capability under review as part of its assessment of spending priorities.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>Highways England keeps the strategic trunk road network under continuous review to identify places where there is a need for studies to support the case for improvements and Highways England are starting a safety study of the route this financial year.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Highways England will soon initiate preparation of Route Strategies for 2020-25. These will form an integral part of the investment planning process. answer text <p>The Mayor and Transport for London (TfL) are developing plans to extend the Bakerloo line south from Elephant and Castle.</p><p> </p><p>TfL published a consultation on the principle of extending the line in autumn 2014. The results have been published on TfL’s website.</p><p> </p><p>During the consultation a number of alternative routes were also suggested, and TfL is reviewing these. This review will include an assessment of the costs and benefits of a number of different routes and a comparison against the original route options. TfL are likely to publish a further consultation on these route options later this year.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>We intend to either remove or significantly reduce the Network Grant by re-routing Government support via franchised train operating companies, which will pay correspondingly higher track access charges to Network Rail for using the network. This change will not affect the overall level of support Government will be providing to rail.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>This new approach will ensure that Network Rail focuses firmly on the needs of train operators, and through them, customers.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Working with the Office of Rail and Road, we intend this change to take effect from the start of Control Period 6 (April 2019).
