answer text
The Department is working with Network Rail, HS2 Ltd, Transport for London and Great Western Railway (GWR) to minimise disruption to rail passengers during Old Oak Common construction. Some GWR services will be diverted to London Euston, providing GWR passengers access to a central London terminal with numerous onward travel connections. Passengers could alternatively use Ealing Broadway station, as they did successfully during the December 2023 engineering works.
more like this

answer text
Similar to last year, public communications regarding the works are due to ramp up ahead of this year’s Christmas engineering works, in line with usual passenger communications timing. Network Rail is leading the development of a passenger communications strategy working closely with train operators and other industry partners, including Transport for London (TfL). My Department is working with Network Rail, HS2 Ltd, TfL and the train operating companies to minimise the impacts of disruption. The most extensive possessions will be in 2026 and 2028 and stakeholders and the public will be informed well in advance.
more like this

answer text
Old Oak Common is being designed and built as a single, integrated station, with a budget of £1.67bn (Q3 2019). There is no separate cost for the conventional station. Enabling Works at Old Oak Common started in 2018 and permanent works started in 2020. The station works will continue until opening for passenger services in 2029-2033. The total time is therefore between 11 and 15 years.

more like this

answer text
The proposal for Old Oak Common is for an integrated station consisting of six HS2 platforms and eight platforms for the existing rail network, providing passengers with a direct interchange between high speed and conventional rail services. The estimated costs of delivering the station are contained within the reset Phase One estimate, which forms the basis of the Full Business Case for HS2 Phase One which was approved in April of this year.

The final design and precise construction programme for the station, which will determine the impact of Old Oak Common construction on existing services, is still being developed by HS2 Ltd and the Old Oak Common Station Construction Partner, Balfour Beatty Vinci Systra (BBVS). The construction programme is being developed in consultation with the wider rail industry and every effort is being made to minimise disruption to services on the Great Western main and relief lines.
more like this
