answer text <p>A new timetable is expected to operate on the East Coast Main Line (ECML) from May 2022, which will offer more seats, and faster services. The Department has also secured funding to design a package of upgrades at Darlington Station.</p><p>Furthermore, we are currently awaiting the outputs of Network Rail’s analysis of constraints on the ECML between Newcastle and Edinburgh, as well as the publication of the Integrated Rail Plan for the Midlands and the North, which will inform our planning for the longer-term future of the route.</p><p> </p> more like this
