The Invitation to Tender included a technical specification, the purpose of which was to ensure compatibility between the train and infrastructure, by providing railway infrastructure information to support the development of the train design. Therefore Hitachi are required to work with Network Rail to ensure that the train is compatible with the existing East Coast Main Line (ECML) infrastructure.
