The paper ‘Implications for Business and Trade of a No Deal Exit on 29 March 2019’ explains that leaving the European Union without a deal on 29 March 2019 would have a variety of effects on business, trade and the economy, and despite government mitigation, the impact of a 'no deal' scenario is expected to be significant in a number of areas. As a Government, we do not want ‘no deal’, however it is only prudent that we ensure businesses are as prepared as possible for every outcome.</p><p>The priorities and concerns of SMEs are taken seriously by Government. DExEU Ministers have attended the SME Advisory Board, chaired by BEIS. We are examining all areas of the UK economy from a number of perspectives and seeking input from a wide range of stakeholders. As part of this, we have looked at 58 sectors of the economy, as set out in our response to the Lords EU External Affairs Sub-committee report “Brexit: Trade in Goods” which can be found at: <a href="https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/ld201617/ldselect/ldeucom/129/129.pdf" target="_blank">https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/ld201617/ldselect/ldeucom/129/129.pdf</a>.</p><p> </p><p>We will continue to engage with businesses and industry bodies from all sectors of the economy, and all regions and nations of the UK, in order to inform our negotiations with the EU.</p><p> </p><p>We have published 14 detailed papers on the negotiations to date and will continue to be as open as possible subject to the overwhelming national interest of preserving our negotiating position. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/01/2018 answer text <p>An Impact Assessment is typically an appraisal of costs and benefits of a policy intervention, published alongside new legislation or regulations. For example, the Government published an Impact Assessment alongside the EU (Withdrawal) Bill. We will continue publishing Impact Assessments to accompany legislation, where appropriate.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>In the Answer of 22 December 2017, I highlighted the Government’s extensive engagement with small and medium sized businesses throughout the UK. For instance, through speaking regularly to the Federation for Small Businesses, including on the Business Advisory Group. We also emphasised the work of the SME Advisory Board.</p><p> </p><p>The Department for Exiting the European Union, working with officials across government, is undertaking a wide range of analysis to support our negotiations, covering the entirety of the UK economy, including small businesses. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/12/2017 answer text <p>The millions of small and medium sized businesses throughout Britain make a significant contribution to our country through taxes, employing people and through the value of the goods and services they provide.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The Government engages widely and regularly with small businesses from across the economy through attendance at industry events and visits to locations across the UK. Ministers work closely with representative bodies such as the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) to secure the best possible deal for the United Kingdom. In July, the FSB hosted a small business roundtable attended by Government Ministers. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/12/2017 answer text <p>The Department for Exiting the European Union, working with officials across Government, is carrying out a programme of rigorous and extensive analytical work that will contribute to our exit negotiations with the EU, to define our future partnership with the EU, and to inform our understanding of how EU exit will affect the UK’s domestic policies and frameworks.</p><p> </p><p>This includes engaging extensively with the millions of small and medium sized businesses throughout Britain who make an enormous contribution to our country. The Government continues to speak widely and regularly with these businesses and representative bodies such as the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) in order to secure the best possible deal for the United Kingdom.</p><p> </p><p>In July, the FSB hosted a small business roundtable attended by Government Ministers. The FSB are also regularly invited to the Business Advisory Group, a forum of business representative organisations who regularly meet with senior Cabinet Ministers, including DExEU Secretary of State David Davis, to highlight their concerns regarding EU exit.
