answer text <p>Israel is an important trading partner, with bilateral trade worth £4.8 billion a year. My Rt Hon. Friend the Prime Minister has committed to enhancing the trading relationship through an upgraded trade deal, building on the trade agreement we have in place today.</p><p> </p><p>My Rt Hon. Friend the Secretary of State for International Trade travelled to Israel in early February to meet her counterpart, Orna Barbivai, and discussed the mutual benefit of an upgraded deal focusing on services, digital and innovation. We have launched our consultation on such a deal; formal negotiations cannot begin until the consultation has concluded and the responses fully analysed.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The United Kingdom is strongly committed to our trade and investment relationship with Israel, one of the Middle East’s most dynamic and innovative economies. In 2020, our services trade totalled £1.7 billion, which is an increase of 84.5% since 2010. Financial services and professional business services were our largest exports to Israel in 2020.</p><p> </p><p>On 1<sup>st</sup> February, the Department for International Trade launched a public consultation on a new free trade deal that will play to British and Israeli strengths as fellow tech superpowers, boosting our strong trade relationship in digital, services and life sciences.</p> more like this

Friend the Secretary of State for International Trade confirmed to the <a href="https://hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2021-12-02/debates/81022A68-A9FC-4E68-A467-9A2766366890/IsraelTradeCo-Operation" target="_blank">House</a> that the UK will open a public consultation on an enhanced bilateral free trade agreement with Israel early next year.</p><p> </p><p>Officials are in regular contact with their Israeli counterparts to implement the existing UK-Israel Trade and Partnership Agreement. The UK is due to hold the inaugural UK-Israel Joint Committee early next year and is also planning to host a joint UK-Israel Innovation Summit in March. This will be an opportunity to highlight our ambitious trade, science and innovation relationship, and showcase the shared talents of leading British and Israeli businesses.</p> more like this
