The Department has liaised with CADANI (Coalition of Aid and Development Agencies in Northern Ireland) to disseminate information to their members on the new fund as well as other appropriate Organisations in order to promote the Small Charities Challenge Fund in Northern Ireland. Letters were also sent to MPs and peers including from Northern Ireland informing them of the opening of the Fund.</p> more like this

answer text <p>In the financial year 2016-17 DFID contributed £4.2 million to the Peace Support Fund managed by the Nordic International Support Foundation. The Fund provides support to civil society, youth and women’s organisations working on peace.</p><p>The DFID Minister of State met representatives of the government and Burma’s ethnic groups during his visit to Burma in July 2017. The peace process was an important topic of discussion raised by the minister during his visit.</p> more like this

The UK is one of the largest providers of assistance to the crisis in Kachin and northern Shan states. answer text <p>The UN has just completed an updated assessment of the humanitarian needs in and around Mosul. The UN estimates that the cost of humanitarian assistance, which includes funding to meet basic needs such as shelter, healthcare, education and water facilities, could be up to $450 million. This has been factored into the UN’s 2017 Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP), which puts funding requirements for the whole of Iraq for 2017 at $984.6 million. The UK continues to work with the UN and lobby the international community to ensure that humanitarian partners have sufficient funding to meet the needs of vulnerable Iraqis.</p><p>The Department for International Development is monitoring the situation on a daily basis.</p> more like this
