The action plan will be divided into the themes of reproductive choice (choosing if when and how to become pregnant) and reproductive wellbeing. Menstrual issues, including stigma surrounding heavy menstrual bleeding will be a focus of the strategy, specifically with regards to effective information and communication and workforce training.</p><p> </p><p>PHE is aligning the work with the recently published Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) publications on guidance for menstrual wellbeing. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/11/2018 answer text <p>NHS England is working with the manufacturers and NHS providers to prepare the National Health Service to begin delivering Chimeric Antigen Receptor T Cell (CAR-T) therapy - the first in a wave of treatments in a new era of personalised medicine and part of the NHS’s long-term plan to upgrade cancer service. The first treatment that will be available to patient is tisagenlecleucel (Kymriah) as an option for treating children and young people up to 25 years old with B cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia that is refractory, in relapsed post-transplant or in second or later relapse.</p><p> </p><p>NHS England anticipates that the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence will recommend this treatment for entry into the Cancer Drugs Fund in mid-November. If so, funding will be made immediately available, following a successful commercial deal with the manufacturer Novartis. We anticipate the first patients will begin their treatment in late November 2018. Research has identified that younger donors offer the potential for better patient outcomes and a greater chance of survival. In 2017, 82% of people who were selected to donate their stem cells were male, and 58% were men aged 30 and under. In acknowledgement of this fact, the Department provides funding to Anthony Nolan and NHS Blood and Transplant to support recruitment of young male donors. In 2017 69% of new potential donors recruited to the United Kingdom registry were under the age of 30, and 40% of new potential donors were male.</p><p> </p><p>The Department also funds Anthony Nolan and NHS Blood and Transplant to improve equity of access to unrelated donor stem cell transplantation for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) patients through targeted recruitment to the Anthony Nolan and the NHS Stem Cell Registry.</p><p> </p><p>The Department has provided more than £26 million to NHS Blood and Transplant and Anthony Nolan for stem cell donation since 2011 and have set very specific targets about the proportion of donors that must be from BAME backgrounds; for example, in this financial year, Anthony Nolan will continue to target more than 35% of the umbilical cords stored in the UK Cord Blood Bank to be donated by mothers from BAME backgrounds.</p> answering member constituency Thurrock answering member printed Jackie Doyle-Price question first answered 26/10/2018 11:53:19 answering member 4065 label Biography information for Dame Jackie Doyle-Price

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/10/2018 answer text <p>Since 2011 the Department has provided more than £26 million in financial support to NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) and Anthony Nolan to enable improved provision of stem cells for patients requiring a transplant, supporting the recruitment and management of donors.</p><p> </p><p>Departmental funding has also enabled the establishment of a unified stem cell registry for the United Kingdom, the ‘Anthony Nolan and the NHS Stem Cell Registry’. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/05/2018 answer text <p>The United Kingdom National Screening Committee looked at the starting age for cervical cancer screening in 2012 and recommended inviting women for screening from the age of 25 based on the evidence that screening women under the age of 25 causes more harm than good; that changes are very common in the young cervix, and approximately one in three women under 25 would be identified by a screening test as requiring further investigation. In the vast majority of these younger women, the abnormalities will clear up of their own accord.
