The Prime Minister and the US President took part in a G7 leaders' call on 16 March.
Members issued a joint statement of solidarity pledging to act together to resolve
the health and economic risks caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and to set the stage
for a strong recovery of strong, sustainable economic growth and prosperity. In addition,
we are in discussions with the US on how we can best coordinate our COVID-19 response
in vulnerable countries and research into vaccine development. The British Government
will continue to work closely with like-minded partners to ensure an effective, science-led
response. Our priority is to support the WHO and other multilateral actors to contain
COVID-19 and mitigate secondary health and socio-economic impacts. Our approach is
guided by the Chief Medical Officer, working on the basis of the best possible scientific
evidence.
