The former Prime Minister, my Rt Hon. Friend the Member for Witney (Mr Cameron) most recently talked to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh about countering extremism in the margins of the G7 meeting in Japan on 27 May. The former Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my Rt Hon. Friend the Member for East Devon (Mr Swire) raised this with Foreign Minister Ali on 5 July. answer text The Iranians are fully aware of our concern about their military and financial support to groups such as the military wings of Hizballah and Hamas, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, which are all proscribed in the UK. This support undermines the prospects for peace and stability in the Middle East. We have raised our concerns about such activity with the Iranian authorities on many occasions, and will continue to do so. more like this

answer text We remain deeply concerned by Iran’s links to designated terrorist groups such as the military wings of Hizballah and Hamas, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Iran’s support includes financial assistance, the provision of military equipment and training, and directly undermines prospects for peace in the region. We call on Iran to implement its obligations under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1747, which inter alia bans the export of military equipment by Iran. more like this
