answer text <p>The British Ambassador to Bahrain has raised the revocation of citizenship of 72 Bahraini nationals at Ministerial level with the Government of Bahrain on 4 February. All of the individuals affected have the right to appeal. The British Embassy in Bahrain will continue to follow these cases closely.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Department of Energy and Climate Change leads the UK’s effort to tackle climate change. Securing a global and binding climate deal, in December this year, that keeps alive prospects for limiting global warming to within 2C is a top foreign policy priority for the Government. Together we raise climate change with a wide range of countries at ministerial level and through the Special Representative for Climate Change. I discussed climate change with my Brazilian counterpart on 6 January and it will also feature at our Strategic Dialogue on 26 February.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The situation in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) remains challenging, and at times dangerous, for civilians.</p><p>On 30 January the Government of the DRC announced that military action had begun against the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR), but it is our assessment that comprehensive operations are yet to fully commence. Officials at our Embassy in Kinshasa have reiterated to the Government of the DRC that international expectations remain high: the threat posed by the FDLR to civilians and to the security and stability of the region must be tackled.</p><p>The Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) and the UN Organization Stabilisation Mission in the DRC (MONUSCO) must ensure that efforts to minimise the impact on civilians remain forefront in planning for military operations against armed groups. We are also working closely with the humanitarian community and MONUSCO to minimise the risk to civilians during forthcoming operations. This includes liaising with and providing financial support for organisations working to develop and finalise contingency plans to manage any potential humanitarian impact.</p><p> </p>

answer text <p>The Gambia has a poor human rights record. Rule of law, freedom of the press, extra-judicial detentions, human trafficking and recent legislation targeting Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender people are all areas of concern. The UK position on human rights is firm: human rights are universal and must apply equally to all people. Our Ambassador in Banjul regularly raises human rights with the Gambian government and our Embassy provides funds that support human rights projects in the country.</p> more like this

We discuss these issues regularly with Palestinian political leaders and civil society representatives. answer text <p>During the recent Gaza conflict Hamas fired rockets that regularly reached Tel Aviv and beyond. Some towns were hit that were in excess of 130km from Gaza. We believe that Hamas’ military wing retains the capability to fire long range rockets into Israel, despite a significantly depleted stockpile of weaponry.</p> more like this
