answer text
We regularly raise at the highest levels Pakistan’s human rights commitments including the misuse of blasphemy laws both against Muslims and against religious minorities. We are concerned to hear about the case of Asia Bibi and reports that a court has upheld the imposition of the death penalty. We have consistently pressed the Government of Pakistan on the issue of the death penalty and expressed our principled opposition to it in all cases and we will ensure that we continue to do so.
more like this

answer text We are aware of the imprisonment of Pastor Behnam Irani. We remain deeply concerned about the detention of and discrimination against members of minority religious groups in Iran. We have called on the Iranian government to protect the rights of all minority groups in Iran. The Iranian Embassy in the UK is yet to reopen, but the UK’s non-resident Chargé d’Affaires raised the issue of freedom of religion with the Iranian authorities during his visit to Iran earlier this year. more like this

The Minister for Africa at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, my hon. We are pressing the Government of South Sudan for an official response. We have raised this issue with the African Union’s Commission of Inquiry. answer text
The Government was disturbed by reports of physical violence against political prisoners in Evin prison on 17 April 2014. We have been concerned about prison conditions in Iran for some time and set out our views formally in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's 2014 Human Rights report. The UK works closely with international human rights bodies and partners to encourage Iran to engage seriously on human rights issues. The UK's non-resident Charge d'Affaires also raised human rights with a range of Iranian government officials during his visit to Iran in March.
more like this
