answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/05/2020 answer text <p>As of 19 May, over 14,900 British travellers have been allocated seats on 64 flights from India since 8 April. Together, these flights will have carried almost all of those in India who registered, are eligible and took up the option of a flight when given the chance to do so. Those British nationals who are unable to travel are being supported by our consular teams in India. We do not have any further charter flights planned, though we continue to keep this under review.</p><p>The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is working around the clock, through our Posts overseas and in London, to make sure all British people who need help are receiving the support and information they need. As of 12 May, more than 14,000 people have been repatriated from India on 60 flights. We are working around the clock to return more on daily flights from across India. We announced an additional five flights on 7 May, departing from Amritsar and Ahmedabad between 12-15 May. Our top priority is to help the most vulnerable British nationals return to the UK and we reserve as many seats as possible for these individuals on all flights. Between 12 and 15 May, an additional four flights are due to depart from Amritsar and one from Ahmedabad, servicing those locations with the highest numbers of British nationals remaining in the country. Seats on these flights are being allocated to British people who are on waiting lists. We are reserving as many seats as possible on the flights for vulnerable British nationals. Each registration portal has been open for a minimum of 5 days and widely promoted, allowing sufficient time for British nationals wishing to leave India as soon as possible to register their interest in a flight. After this phase of flights, we anticipate that the vast majority of British nationals remaining on the waiting list who can, and want to fly, will have returned to the UK. We are monitoring where there are British nationals still needing to return to the UK, and will reassess if there is need for further flights based on demand. The scale of the challenge is immense. As all of India is under lockdown, we continue to engage with state authorities to enable British Nationals (BN) to reach airports.</p><p>As of 5 May, we have chartered 52 flights from 11 Indian cities including Delhi, Goa, Mumbai and others in Punjab, Gujarat and Bengal. Over 12,000 people have returned home on UK charter flights and we continue to work day and night to return more on daily flights from across India. To date we have returned over 10,000 people to the UK from India on FCO chartered flights. This includes, as of 29 April, over 2,750 passengers who have returned home from Punjab. An additional 13 flights are due to run between 2 May and 11 May, servicing those locations with the highest numbers of British nationals remaining in India. The UK Government has arranged a fifth round of special charter flights from 5 May to 11 May. The Government of India announced that scheduled international commercial passenger aircraft would not be allowed to land in India from March 22 for one week.
