answer text As this programme is in its early stages, no assessment has yet been made, but its impact will be evaluated during and after execution to ensure impact and value for money. The British Council manages the allocation of our funding for grassroots football in China, which aims to position the UK as China's priority partner for sport. more like this

answer text
The UK fully supported a UN resolution tabled in the Security Council by the US in response to the Secretary General's report. This draft resolution called for an arms embargo and targeted sanctions against those responsible for the continued violence. We lobbied hard, both in New York and in the appropriate capitals, but disappointingly the resolution was not adopted. We continue to work closely with the region and the wider international community to mitigate the risks identified in the Secretary General's report.
more like this

answer text
There is no observer status or associate membership of the Commonwealth of Nations. The criteria for membership include the requirement to be a full sovereign state, and Somaliland is not internationally recognised. HMG's position has long been that it is for Somalia and Somaliland to decide their future, and for regional neighbours to take the lead in recognising any new arrangements.
more like this

answer text
It has long been our position that Israeli settlement activity is illegal and undermines the viability of two states for two peoples, but it is far from the only obstacle to peace. UN Security Council Resolution 2334 addresses settlements while also calling for an end to incitement and terror. The resolution passed on 23 December and asks the Secretary-General to report to the Council every three months on the implementation of its provisions. We will monitor the situation closely.
more like this
