answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/07/2014 answer text <p>The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Strategic Rocket Force put on a SCUD-class short-range ballistic missile demonstration for Kim Jong Un on 29 June 2014. Two missiles were launched from its southeast coastline toward the sea. On 9 July, and again on 13 July, the DPRK launched further SCUD-class short range missiles. Two missiles were launched from the southwest of the country, landing in the sea to the east of the DPRK. No prior notice was given in advance of these launches.</p><p>As a result of these launches the UK has written to the UN Committee responsible for the DPRK sanctions regime and asked it to investigate these breaches of UN Security Council Resolutions (UNSCRs) 1718, 1874, 2087 and 2094. We have also joined the US, the Republic of Korea, Australia, Canada, France, Germany and Japan, in a letter to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), expressing concern at the lack of proper prior notification of ballistic missile launches and asking ICAO to remind the DPRK of its responsibilities for international civil aviation. In response, the President of the Council of ICAO said on 14 July 2014 that he has brought the matter to the attention of the DPRK Minister of Land and Marine Transportation, reminding the Minister of previous correspondence, expressing concerns for the safety of international civil aviation and urging him to take the steps required to fulfil the requirements of the Annexes under the Chicago Convention.</p><p>On 17 July, the UK and other UN Security Council Members met to exchange views regarding the DPRK's recent series of ballistic missile launches. We neither condone such activity, nor do we ask others to do it on our behalf. We have raised Mr Adorus’ allegations of mistreatment during his detention in Ethiopia on numerous occasions, including at Ministerial level. The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my hon. Friend the Member for Boston and Skegness (Mr Simmonds), spoke with Foreign Minister Tedros about the case on 11 July. We have reminded the Ethiopian government of its obligations under the Convention against Torture, to which it is a signatory, to follow up on allegations through an independent, impartial and transparent investigation. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/07/2014 answer text <p>Sanctions have helped improve the situation in Cote d'Ivoire by limiting destabilising factors through restrictions on the sale, supply and transfer of arms and by targeting those who constitute a threat to peace and national reconciliation with asset freeze and travel ban measures. The sanctions remain under regular review and were revised by the UN in April 2014 following a UN Group of Experts report. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/07/2014 answer text <p>Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) Ministers do not make regular use of the Government Car Service and we do not record the times when it may be used by Ministers. FCO Services, a Trading Fund of the FCO, has a small pool of vehicles and security cleared drivers (the London Car Service) which are used mainly for transporting Queen’s Messengers, diplomatic bags and other classified material. As part of a long-standing arrangement the Permanent Under Secretary and other senior officials have been able to draw on this pool for official and operationally necessary travel, and since 2010 FCO Ministers have also used the service.</p><p>In the financial year 2013/14, 1,446 journeys were made by Ministers using the London Car Service. The Ministry of Finance publishes expenditure on its website on a monthly basis, including a breakdown by Ministry. The Palestinian Authority Prime Minister and other Ministers have been clear in both public and to us that their payments to families of prisoners are intended to sustain families whose primary breadwinner has been imprisoned. In February 2014, the UK participated in the regional security training exercise Operation Flintlock, hosted by Niger, which fosters regional co-operation to support counter terrorism and stabilisation activities in North and West Africa.</p><p>The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my right hon. Friend the Member for Richmond (Yorks) (Mr Hague) chaired a Ministerial meeting in London on security in Nigeria on 12 June 2014.
