The UK welcomed the findings of the Marikana Commission of Inquiry that the South African Government established in 2012 to ascertain the facts surrounding the events at Lonmin mine. The Commission issued its report in 2015 and the South African Government accepted full responsibility for the incident, agreeing in 2016 to pay R1.17 billion (£75 million) in compensation. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/09/2018 answer text <p>​In December 2017, the International Criminal Court (ICC) Assembly of States Parties considered how and when to activate the Court’s jurisdiction over the crime of aggression. It confirmed that the Court does not have jurisdiction in respect of the territory or nationals of a State that has not ratified the crime of aggression amendments to the Rome Statute, absent a UN Security Council resolution. This position is entirely consistent with Article 121(5) and all other Articles of the Rome Statute. It is now for each State to choose whether to ratify the relevant amendments, and thereby accept the Court’s jurisdiction. To date, only 35 States Parties have done so. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/04/2018 answer text <p>The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has two full-time equivalent permanent staff assigned to preparations and negotiations on a new agreement under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity of areas beyond national jurisdiction. As of June, this number will rise to three full-time equivalent permanent members of staff and we are currently recruiting for a fourth. Other members of staff will also be available to support the negotiations as required.
