answer text <p>Individuals can access their National Insurance record through their Personal Tax Account and the ‘Check your National Insurance record’ and ‘Check your State Pension forecast’ services on the GOV.UK webiste. HMRC has updated all of these products with a statement to explain the deadline for making voluntary National Insurance contributions has been extended to 5 April 2025.</p><p> </p><p>The payment date for years 2006 to 2018 will be updated to 5 April 2025 before the end of July 2023.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA)’s, and HM Treasury’s, consultations on the Basel 3.1 standards closed on 30 March. This included the government’s proposals for deleting retained EU law including which relates to the prudential rules on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) raising funds against their commercial premises. The detailed implementation of the Basel 3.1 package is being delegated to the UK’s expert regulator, the PRA, and its consultation requested information from firms on specific measures, including those relating to SME lending. The government and PRA are currently considering the responses.</p><p> </p><p>The government continues to work with the PRA and businesses closely to understand the impact of the proposed changes, including the impact on SME lending.</p> more like this

answer text Where individuals are only tax resident in the UK, their financial account information is not shared with any foreign authority. Under the Common Reporting Standard (CRS) information on UK financial accounts held by tax residents of Hong Kong is shared with the tax authority of Hong Kong for taxation purposes. Any financial institution or account holder can apply to HMRC to have CRS information redacted if they consider that their human rights are at risk. The Government has reminded financial institutions about the process and information for individual account holders available on GOV.UK has recently been updated and made more prominent. more like this

answer text <p>We are aware of the difficulties British National (Overseas) (BN(O))s are experiencing in seeking early withdrawal of their pension held by the Mandatory Provident Fund in Hong Kong. The root of the problem is the Chinese Government's decision not to recognise the BN(O) passport as a valid identity document in Hong Kong. The UK firmly opposes the discrimination of BN(O)s in this way. We have urged the Hong Kong authorities to facilitate the early drawdown of funds as is the case for other Hong Kong residents who move overseas permanently.</p> more like this

answer text The ‘hospitality’ sector broadly equates to the Sector Industrial Classification of ‘Accommodation and Food Service Activities’ which is divided between two subsectors:<ul><li>Accommodation</li><li>Food and beverage service activities</li></ul><p> </p><p>A sector and sub-sector breakdown of VAT declarations data is published in HMRC’s on the GOV.UK website here <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/value-added-tax-vat-annual-statistics" target="_blank">Value Added Tax (VAT) annual statistics</a>, which reflects the net liabilities from VAT returns.</p><p> </p><p>Currently, the available data covers the period up to and including the financial year 2021-2022. The VAT annual statistics are usually published in the Winter and covers the period up to the last complete financial year. A sector breakdown of VAT data for the 2022-2023 financial year will be included in the next publication. In line with the Code of Practice for Statistics, releases of these statistics are pre-announced on GOV.UK.</p><p> </p>

answer text <p>The government recognises that while the transition towards digital payments brings many opportunities, cash continues to be used by many people across the UK, including those who may be in vulnerable groups.</p><p> </p><p>The government is currently legislating to protect access to cash across the UK as part of the Financial Services and Markets (FSM) Bill 2022. The Bill establishes the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as the lead regulator for access to cash with responsibility and powers to seek to ensure reasonable provision of withdrawal and deposit facilities.</p><p> </p><p>As amended, the FSM Bill protects free access to cash by requiring the FCA to seek to ensure that, in the United Kingdom, there is reasonable provision of free withdrawal and deposit facilities for personal current accounts with relevant providers. It also requires the Treasury to publish a policy statement that includes policies on free access.</p><p> </p><p>According to LINK data for April 2023, there are around 39,000 free-to-use ATMs across the UK, including 57 in the constituency of Enfield North.</p>
