This government shares the view that it is essential to ensure the right options and incentives are available to consumers to help them deal with their debts.</p><p> </p><p>The government is considering in detail the impacts of additional statutory consumer protections, ensuring that any potential changes would fit well with the formal and informal debt solutions currently available to consumers. Helping hard-working people achieve their aspirations at every stage of their lives is at the heart of our long term plan. That is why we launched the Public Financial Guidance consultation in Budget 2016 to seek input on what role the government should play in promoting financial capability<strong>,</strong> and how the public provision of free-to-client, impartial financial guidance should be structured to give consumers the information they need to make financial decisions. The consultation closed on 8 June. The government is currently considering the responses and will respond in the Autumn. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/04/2016 answer text <p>At Budget 2016, the government published its response to the Public Financial Guidance Review and launched a consultation seeking views on the government's plans to restructure the statutory financial guidance providers – the Money Advice Service, The Pensions Advisory Service and Pension Wise. This paper, which closes on 8 June 2016, sets out a new delivery model for public financial guidance and seeks views on how, within this model, the proposed services could best be offered. The new delivery model is designed to better complement the financial guidance provided by the third sector and the industry and provide more targeted support for consumers.</p><p> </p><p>The government will consider the responses to this consultation over the summer, and in parallel, work closely with the affected organisations to finalise the delivery structure. A detailed timetable will be set out with the final response, which will be published in the autumn.
