answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/12/2018 answer text <p>Food waste is a financial and environmental issue, but the UK has made good progress with total food waste in the UK reducing by 14% per person between 2007 and 2015 (post-farm gate).</p><p> </p><p>Household food waste accounts for around 70% of total food waste in the UK, and householders spend £15 billion every year on food that could have been eaten but ends up being thrown away.</p><p> </p><p>Food waste prevention is one of the Waste and Resources Action Programme’s (WRAP) key priorities. Action to reduce levels of household food waste is being taken in two ways:</p><ul><li>through the Love Food Hate Waste consumer behaviour change campaign; and</li><li>under WRAP’s voluntary agreement, the Courtauld Commitment 2025, which aims to cut the carbon and waste associated with food &amp; drink by at least one fifth over a decade.</li></ul><p> </p><p>Courtauld 2025 will publish interim progress results in 2019 and 2022, and final results in 2026. Quantitative data is not, therefore, currently available in relation to progress made over the last 12 months.</p><p> </p><p>Over the last 12 months, WRAP’s activities to reduce household food waste have been focused on two key areas: behavioural change interventions and national communications. WRAP has developed a set of behavioural change interventions and technical changes that can work in-store and at home, which focus on people buying what they need and using what they buy. WRAP has also been increasing awareness through mini-campaigns under Love Food Hate Waste. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/11/2018 answer text <p>This is a devolved matter.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Defra does not fund studies into the effect of air pollution on child health as this falls more in the remit of bodies such as the Department of Health and Social Care or Public Health England.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>We have consulted on our new Clean Air Strategy, which sets out how we are investing £10 million in improving our modelling, data and analytical tools to give a more precise picture of current and future air quality and the impact of policies to improve it in the future. Natural England is taking action to address some of the objectives in this strategy.</p><p> </p><p>As set out in the 25 Year Environment Plan, we are committed to creating or restoring 500,000 hectares of wildlife-rich habitat to provide benefits for species such as the hedgehog. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/11/2018 answer text <p>I have previously responded to the issue raised in EDM 1297 in PQ 138359 17/19 and also directly with various members of Parliament via ministerial correspondence.</p><p> </p><p>The trap is not approved for trapping hedgehogs. We are confident that hedgehogs can be effectively and safely excluded from the Goodnature A24 trap when it is set according to manufacturer’s instructions and an excluder tunnel is (as required by law) used. We are also not aware of any evidence which suggests the A24 trap and excluder tunnels used with it have had any significant impact on hedgehog numbers since its approval.</p><p> </p><p>The use of traps is an important tool in wildlife management, which benefits conservation and a range of economic activities from shooting and agriculture to forestry and eco-tourism. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/12/2018 answer text <p>The Government’s 25 Year Environment Plan sets out our ambition to support and protect the world’s forests, supporting sustainable agriculture and zero-deforestation supply chains, including for palm oil.</p><p> </p><p>Through the Amsterdam Declarations and the Tropical Forest Alliance 2020 we are working with businesses and other governments to strengthen governance, promote market-based solutions and put in place incentives, policies and actions that support sustainable production of palm oil alongside forest protection.</p><p> </p><p>In 2012, Defra published the UK Statement on the Sustainable Production of Palm Oil which was signed by trade associations, NGOs and Government and aimed to achieve 100% sourcing of credibly certified sustainable palm oil. The latest report from the UK Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil indicates that based on their revised baseline data and methodology, the UK achieved 75% certified sustainable palm oil in 2017. The Roundtable has agreed to report annually on progress and work with other signatories to the Amsterdam Declaration on increasing the uptake of sustainable palm oil.
