answer text <p>Information on contracts placed by the Ministry of Defence (MOD), including the nature of those contracts, is published on gov.uk as part of the MOD trade, industry and contracts statistics: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/mod-industry-trade-and-contracts-2014</p><p>Table 1.01.06 'New contracts placed by type' shows that the MOD awarded 2,328 contracts in 2013-14, with a value of £6,205 million. Of these, 39% were awarded on a competitive basis, and 56% were non-competitive. The remainder were mainly instances where a contract has been let as a Terms of Business Agreement.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Defence Clothing Team, part of Defence Equipment and Support, is responsible for providing all waterproof clothing to the Royal Marines (RM).</p><p>In 2013 the RM identified a requirement for a new windproof suit as part of its Mountain and Cold Weather Warfare range of clothing. Following trials, suitable items, which were also waterproof, were procured by the Defence Clothing Team using an existing contract let by the NATO Logistic Support Agency.</p> more like this

answer text <p>When Defence Equipment and Support (DE&amp;S) became a bespoke trading entity on 1 April 2014 it was given a broad range of freedoms, agreed by HM Treasury and the Cabinet Office, to allow it to manage its business, outputs and workforce within an operating cost envelope set to drive significant efficiencies.
