answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/04/2023 answer text <p>An individual must, in most circumstances, provide their biometrics, in the form of a facial image and fingerprints, when applying for a visa or a biometric immigration document before they come to the UK. This is to ensure we can confirm their identity and fix them to it, and to conduct background security checks to establish whether they pose a threat to public safety.</p><p> </p><p>The Home Office contracts two commercial partners, VFS and TLS Contact, to operate its global network of Visa Application Centres (VACs) who provide application centres in over 230 locations across 138 countries. It is not economically viable for UKVI to have VACs in every city or country across the world and it may not be sustainable to open new locations where volumes are lower.</p><p> </p><p>Individuals who are unable to travel to a VAC should not normally make an application until they are able to do so. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/03/2023 answer text <p>The Government is committed to tackling vehicle crime.</p><p>We are working closely with police and motor manufacturers through the National Vehicle Crime Working Group, chaired by ACC Jennifer Sims, the National Police Chiefs’ Council lead for vehicle crime, to take forward a programme of work to prevent and reduce vehicle crime.</p><p>A vehicle crime intelligence group has been set up to monitor emerging trends in vehicle crime, such as devices used to steal vehicles and ways in which criminals can exploit new vehicle technology. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/03/2023 answer text <p>The Government remains committed to supporting all victims of domestic abuse, regardless of sex.</p><p>The commitments set out in the Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Strategy and Tackling Domestic Abuse Plan apply to all victims of these crimes, including male victims. These documents aim to transform the whole of society's response to these crimes with actions to prevent abuse, pursue perpetrators, and support victims.</p><p>We do understand that there are specific challenges that male victims of domestic abuse face. We published the refreshed Supporting Male Victims policy document in 2022, which strengthens the government's response to male victims and includes information on the myths and stereotypes that can act as a barrier to reporting for male victims.</p><p>Whilst the Government fully acknowledges the range of barriers many male victims face, we encourage all victims to report incidents to the police, so perpetrators can be brought to justice. We also recognise that it is important for all victims to have confidence in policing. To support policing, we are:</p><p>· Providing up to £3.3 million to fund the rollout of Domestic Abuse Matters training to police forces which have yet to deliver it, or do not have their own specific domestic abuse training.</p><p>· Published updated guidance on the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (DVDS), which enables the police to disclose information to a victim or potential victim of domestic abuse about their partner's or ex partner's previous abusive or violent offending.</p><p>In the Domestic Abuse Plan, we committed to a Home Office review into closed VAWG cases that have outcome 15 of 16 (evidential difficulties prevent further actions or victim does not support police action or withdraws support) to identify opportunities for improvements in the way these are used.</p> answering member constituency Derbyshire Dales answering member printed Miss Sarah Dines question first answered 28/03/2023 14:51:10 answering member 4816 label Biography information for Miss Sarah Dines

Information on how to use the datasets can be found in the ‘Notes’ page of the workbooks. The latest data relate to the year ending September 2022. Data for the year ending December 2022 will be published on 23 February 2023. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/02/2023 answer text <p>Tackling fraud requires a unified and co-ordinated response from government, law enforcement and the private sector to better protect the public and businesses from fraud, reduce the impact of fraud on victims, and increase the disruption and prosecution of fraudsters.</p><p>We will publish a strategy setting out how we will do this shortly. Raising awareness and safeguarding victims will form a key part of the Government's forthcoming fraud strategy. The strategy will outline how we will raise public awareness and safeguard victims through a number of actions including the provision of clear and consistent protect advice.</p><p>We are also working on a number of proactive actions to prevent fraud, including online shopping scams. Fraud has been brought into scope of the Online Safety Bill to make tech firms responsible for protecting their customers from fraud. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/02/2023 answer text <p>The grooming of vulnerable children into drug dealing by any means is deplorable and the Government is determined to tackle it.</p><p>Through our County Lines Programme, police funded activity has already closed over 2,900 county lines, resulted over 8,000 arrests and over 9,500 individuals engaged through safeguarding interventions. As part of our Programme, we are also funding Catch22 and Missing People’s SafeCall service to provide specialist support to victims of county lines exploitation and their families.</p><p>More widely, we are also driving targeted action to respond to child exploitation through the Home Office-funded Prevention Programme, delivered by The Children’s Society. This works with a range of national and local partners, including businesses, to identify exploitation trends, such as the use of e-cigarettes, and work collaboratively to prevent exploitation. It is deeply harmful, not only because of the profound effect it can have on victims, survivors and their loved ones, but also because of the harm it inflicts on wider society.</p><p> </p><p>The importance of specialised provision, which is able to provide culturally sensitive support was clearly made in the Violence Against Women and Girls Call for Evidence which we ran in 2021.The Call for Evidence elicited an unprecedented 180,000 responses, and underpins both the National Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy and Tackling Domestic Abuse Plan.</p><p> </p><p>There was a clear call “for support to be tailored to specific forms of violence against women and girls or specific groups of victims and survivors (including men and boys, people from different ethnicities and LGBT people) to ensure all victims and survivors were able to access appropriate and effective support.”</p><p> </p><p>This is why the Domestic Abuse Plan, commits to over £140 million for supporting victims of which £47 million will be ringfenced for community-based services to support victims and survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence.</p><p> </p><p>Furthermore, we will ensure this funding is accessible to the range of organisations and agencies working with victims and survivors, and have sought input from the sector to support the government do this.</p> answering member constituency Derbyshire Dales answering member printed Miss Sarah Dines question first answered 08/02/2023 12:29:36 answering member 4816 label Biography information for Miss Sarah Dines
