answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/06/2019 answer text <p>Where a translator is unavailable to carry out a substantive asylum interview, the Home Office will look to rebook the interview when a translator for the preferred language is next available.</p><p>On the rare occasion where we are unable to source a translator to carry out the substantive asylum interview, we would seek to use a detailed witness statement provided by the applicant, to decide the asylum claim.</p><p>The Home Office will continue to explore and act upon potential interpreter recruitment avenues, both regionally and nationally, for all languages. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/02/2019 answer text <p>The Home Office is putting in place measures to ensure that the EU Settlement Scheme is streamlined, user-friendly and accessible to all prospective applicants. There will be a broad range of support in place. These include offering assisted digital support for those who cannot access or are not confident with technology, and the Settlement Resolution Centre which will be able to assist with questions relating to the application process.</p><p>We currently have 13 locations where applicants can have their ID document scanned, if they choose to do so. Once the scheme is fully open, by 30 March 2019, there will be over 50 locations across the UK where applicants can have their identity document scanned. These are being sourced through a combination of recruitment and internal redeployment.</p><p>In general it does not make sense to draw a hard distinction between what is needed for ‘deal’ compared with ‘no deal’ as much of the capacity requirement is similar. Moreover we would expect to meet most of our additional requirements for ‘no deal’ through redeployment – reprioritising staff away from other activities. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/09/2018 answer text <p>The Home Office currently provides accommodation to asylum seekers who would otherwise be destitute, until their asylum claim is fully determined or where they have a practical or legal obstacle that temporarily prevents them leaving the UK.</p><p>The individuals who are subject to the proposed lock change notices in Scotland are those who have no right to accommodation, have had their asylum claims determined and, where relevant, upheld by the courts.</p><p>Home Office officials are in regular contact with our accommodation providers as part of our day to day management of the accommodation contracts.</p><p>In relation to the issuing of lock change notices there have been a number of meetings between senior officials, Serco and relevant stakeholders to address this issue, with a protocol agreed with partners in Glasgow City Council around how such cases are managed.</p><p>In addition, following a productive series of meetings over recent weeks my officials and representatives from Serco form part of a Task Force chaired by Glasgow City Council which is committed to reviewing the cases identified by Serco that may no longer be entitled to Home Office support to ensure they are managed appropriately.</p> answering member constituency Romsey and Southampton North answering member printed Caroline Nokes question first answered 06/09/2018 15:58:38 answering member 4048 label Biography information for Caroline Nokes

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/07/2018 answer text <p>For overseas customers, UK Visas and Immigration have a chargeable call rate of £1.37 per minute.</p><p>For UK Visas and Immigration in–country customers, contact centres provide information about the Immigration Rules and the Points Based System requirements via a number of published customer enquiry line numbers. In 2014, in line with Cabinet Office guidance, UKVI changed all 0845 and 0870 prefix helpline numbers to lower call tariff rate 0300 prefix numbers. UKVI do not generate any income from these non-geographic numbers enquiry lines.</p><p>UKVI have self selection pages on the Gov.uk website (see link below), and informative telephony messages on our help lines to further ensure and assist customers wanting to contact UKVI.
