answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/09/2023 answer text <p>The Government remains firmly committed to tackling all forms of child sexual abuse online and in our communities across the UK and internationally. Our approach is underpinned by the Tackling Child Sexual Abuse Strategy which sets out firm commitments to drive action across the whole system.</p><p>The law in the UK is very clear with regards to production of child sexual abuse material. It is an offence to produce, store, share or search for any material that contains or depicts child sexual abuse, regardless of whether the material depicts a ‘real’ child or not. This prohibition also includes pseudo-imagery that may have been computer-generated.</p><p>Home Office investment supports the National Crime Agency to use its unique capabilities to disrupt the highest harm offenders, safeguard children and remove the most horrific child sexual abuse material from the internet, including on the dark web.</p><p>The Government not only works closely with law enforcement but also child protection agencies to develop a robust assessment of the threat posed by child sexual offenders and therefore create technological and legislative solutions to target offenders and safeguard children.</p><p>It is not only the duty of the government to take this threat seriously, but also that of the technology companies that utilise Artificial Intelligence. They must incorporate safety measures to ensure their technology cannot be exploited by child sexual offenders.</p><p>That is why this Government is currently driving forward the Online Safety Bill which seeks to make the UK the safest place in the world to be online. The Online Safety Bill will, for the first time, place clear legal duties on technology companies to take proactive steps to identify, remove and prevent users encountering illegal content, including child sexual abuse content from platforms/services. This includes AI-generated child sexual abuse content. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/09/2023 answer text <p>Under measures in the Knives Act 1997 it is an offence to market a knife in a way which indicates, or suggests, that it is suitable for combat, or is otherwise likely to encourage violent behaviour involving the use of the knife as a weapon. A person found guilty of this offence on indictment can face up to 2 years imprisonment or a fine or both.</p><p>We are also introducing the Online Safety Bill which is currently in its final stages in Parliament. The legislation will achieve Royal Assent this Autumn and Ofcom’s powers will commence shortly after.</p><p>For the first time in the UK, tech companies are going to be accountable to an independent regulator to keep their users, particularly children, safe. They will need to remove and limit the spread of illegal content. This means less illegal content online and when it does appear it will be removed quicker.</p><p>Schedule 7 of the Bill sets out a series of priority offences which includes the sale of weapons online, including sales from online marketplaces. Companies will need to take particularly robust action to prevent the proliferation of this content online and ensure that their services are not used for offending. This means companies will need to proactively mitigate the risk that their services are used for illegal activity including removing any content that does appear as soon as they are made aware of it.</p><p>In addition, as part of DCMS' Online Advertising Programme, the government will introduce a new and targeted regulatory framework for paid-for online advertising, which will focus on tackling illegal advertising and increasing the protection of children and young people from adverts for products and services that are illegal to sell.</p><p>DCMS will be issuing a consultation on the details of the proposed regulation in due course and have convened a ministerially-led industry taskforce to drive forward non-legislative action meanwhile.</p> answering member constituency Croydon South answering member printed Chris Philp question first answered 11/09/2023 16:05:05 answering member 4503 label Biography information for Chris Philp

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/09/2023 answer text <p>On 27 March, the Government launched the Anti-social Behaviour Action Plan (<a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/anti-social-behaviour-action-plan" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/anti-social-behaviour-action-plan</a>) ensuring the police, local authorities and other relevant agencies have the powers they need to tackle the blight of anti-social behaviour, including off road bike nuisance, facing communities across England and Wales.</p><p>The plan is backed by £160m of funding. This includes up to £60m to fund an increased police and other uniformed presence to clamp down on anti-social behaviour, targeting hotspots. Initially we are working with 10 police force areas, but from 2024 we will support a hotspot approach across every police force area in England and Wales. We are also providing up to £50m to support the provision of Immediate Justice, by issuing out of court disposals with conditions to swiftly repair any damage – the aim being for them to start within 48 hours of referral. This will start in 10 initial trailblazer police force areas and be rolled out across England and Wales from 2024.</p><p>The police, local authorities and other local agencies can deal with anti-social behaviour involving vehicles (e.g. off-road bikes, racing round estates, driving across public open spaces) in the same way as they deal with any other anti-social behaviour. It is for local areas to decide how best to deploy these powers depending on the specific circumstances. They are best placed to understand what is driving the behaviour in question, the impact that it is having, and to determine the most appropriate response.</p><p>We are giving the police the resources they need to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour. Greater Manchester Police recruited 1,280 additional uplift officers against a total three-year allocation of 1,155 officers. On 31 March 2023, there were 8,067 police officers in Greater Manchester, a total growth of 1,280 additional officers against the baseline (6,787) at the start of the Police Uplift Programme. TASER® provides officers with an important tactical option when facing potentially violent situations.</p><p>There are no plans to give all police officers access to Tasers.
