Since it was relaunched on 30 June 2014, the pipeline of potential export contracts has developed and now involves 28 UK-based exporters of varying size and export experience. answer text <p><ins class="ministerial">Farnborough is an important showcase for the UK aerospace sector. The Department does not make estimates of aerospace exports arising as a result of the Farnborough Airshow. However, given the UK’s position as a leading supplier to the world’s aerospace industry, our industry is likely to be a major beneficiary of many of the new orders announced at the Show.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">Recent data from the Aerospace Defence and Security trade association show aerospace exports grew by 12% in 2013 to £25 billion.</ins></p><p><br /><del class="ministerial">There has been significant interest in UK Export Finance’s (UKEF) Direct Lending Facility (DLF) since its enhancements were announced in the Budget. answer text <p> </p><p>Apprenticeship reforms are addressing exactly the barriers that employers have identified to taking on apprentices.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Trailblazers led by employers are designing the new Apprenticeship standards for occupations in their sectors. Horticulture employers are fully engaged in the reform programme and the Trailblazer for the sector has recently submitted a standard for approval.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The budget announced £170 m funding to extend the Apprenticeship Grant for Employers to help smaller businesses take on young apprentices aged 16-24. This will fund over 100,000 incentive payments of £1,500. answer text <p>In 2012, the median gross hourly wage for an Apprentice in England was £6.09. The mean was £6.21. In 2011, the equivalent gross hourly wages were £5.83 and £5.80.</p><p> </p><p>For females, in 2011, the median gross hourly wage was £5.96 and the mean £5.88. In 2012, these were £6.19 and £6.23 respectively.</p><p> </p><p>For males, in 2011, the median gross hourly wage was £5.43 and the mean £5.71. In 2012, these were £5.93 and £6.19 respectively.</p><p> </p><p>Please note that the only available data we have for Apprenticeship Pay is for 2012 and 2011, from the two Apprenticeship Pay Surveys (APS). These surveys do not calculate an annual wage from the survey responses as the hours Apprentices work are variable.
