unstar this property answer text <p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Government stated in the 2016 Budget that it supports at least 9 gigawatts of additional interconnection, and noted that there is likely to be merit in more depending on the market being connected to. We have three projects under construction and three more with regulatory approval, which together could add 7.7 gigawatts of interconnection capacity by 2022. In addition to this, there are a number of new projects coming forward seeking regulatory approval. Ofgem is currently assessing whether these projects are in the interests of British consumers.</p><p><strong> </strong></p> more like this

The next Digest is due to be published on 27 July 2017, and provisional 2016 data will feature in the next Energy Trends report due for publication on 30 March.</p><p> </p><p>The latest available 12 month period of data spans Q4 2015 to Q3 2016 and shows a total export of 1,255GWh.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p> more like this

This recommendation is based on National Grid’s assessment of different scenarios for the level of electricity demand and takes account of projected changes in electricity use. National Grid’s recommendation is scrutinised by an independent Panel of Technical Experts before my right hon. unstar this property answer text <p>The Government has set out its ambition for almost all cars and vans to be zero emissions by 2050. By setting a long-term target, the Government is seeking to ensure that there is time to ready the grid for the mass transition towards cleaner, more efficient vehicles. Existing mechanisms, such as the Capacity Market and network operator business planning, can be used to ensure that network and generating capacity will stay in step with growing electric vehicle demand. Through further work to increase the flexibility in electricity demand and supply, including through promoting smart charging, we aim to ensure that electric vehicle demands are managed efficiently.</p> more like this
