answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/06/2022 answer text <p>The Historical Roots of the Windrush Scandal report was commissioned by the Home Office to form part of an internal learning resource to improve understanding of the historical development of immigration policy, in response to Recommendation 6 of the Windrush Lessons Learned Review by Wendy Williams.</p><p>The report was written by a historian who was independent from the Home Office and does not represent government policy. The views included in the report are those of the author.</p><p>We have already made good progress against Wendy Williams’ recommendations. She highlighted many achievements, including the work we have put into becoming a more compassionate and open organisation. Yet we know there is more to do. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/06/2022 answer text <p>This government is committed to providing protection for vulnerable and at-risk people fleeing Afghanistan and is taking a leading role in the international response. Since the end of Op PITTING, we have brought c.4,000 Afghans to the UK from a neighbouring country.</p><p>The UK is working with international partners, including non-governmental organisations and other countries, to secure safe routes out of Afghanistan as soon as they become available, starting with those in most need. We also intend to establish a diplomatic presence in Kabul as soon as the security and political situation in Afghanistan allows. We are coordinating this effort with allies.</p><p>Biometrics must be provided before entry clearance is granted, to confirm identity and complete performance of national security checks.</p><p>There is currently no option to enrol biometrics in Afghanistan.
