<p>The Government believes that the UN has an important role to play in promoting
greater participation within the international tax system and promoting better implementation
of existing tax rules and standards across the world. The UK actively engages with
the UN’s work on tax policy and provides expertise to the work of the various subcommittees
on tax.</p><p> </p><p>The Government also cares deeply about ensuring that mechanisms
for formulating and implementing international tax rules and standards are effective
as well as inclusive. Therefore, the UK believes that the OECD, including the Inclusive
Framework (with over 130 members) and the Global Forum (with over 160 members) is
best-placed to deliver consensus-based reform to international tax rules. This comes
as a result of the strong expertise that sits within the OECD and the steps taken
in recent years to become ever more inclusive of the needs of developing countries.</p>
