answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/09/2015 answer text <p>The Prime Minister has announced the expansion of the Government's Syrian Vulnerable Person Scheme, which is based on need rather than fulfilling a quota in a particular year. We expect to resettle 20,000 Syrians in need of protection during this Parliament. As the expanded scheme is based on need and reliant on the UNHCR and other partners to deliver, it is not possible or appropriate to set any sort of annual target, but we are clear that we must help people as soon as possible as the Home Secretary updated the House on 16 September.</p><p>In addition to the Scheme, since the crisis in Syria began in 2011 we have granted asylum or other forms of leave to almost 5,000 Syrian nationals and dependants through normal asylum procedures. We will, however, continue to provide practical support coordinated by the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) in the form of expertise to help build capacity in States facing particular pressures.</p><p>HM Government has already committed £900 million in humanitarian aid to the humanitarian crisis in Syria and the region. A further £100 million announced in the past few days, brings our commitment to £1bn, more than any other country in the world except the United States.</p><p>In addition, the Chancellor has announced a fundamental review of how the aid budget is used . Friend the Member for Witney (Mr Cameron) told the House on 7 September that the UK would meet its moral obligations and take 20 000 Syrian refugees over the lifetime of this Parliament. He also said we are using our aid budget to alleviate poverty in those countries of origin, we are the only major country in the world who has kept our promise to spend 0.7% of Gross Domestic Product on aid, and that we are the second largest donor to the Syrian conflict, including providing over 18 million food rations, and providing clean water for 1.6 million.</p><p>The Prime Minister also announced on 4 September an additional £100 million in aid, taking our contribution to over £1 billion. Sixty million pounds of this additional funding will go towards helping Syrians still in Syria. The remainder will go to neighbouring countries – to Turkey, to Jordan and to Lebanon where one quarter of the population are Syrian refugees.</p><p>The UK is taking part in the UN’s programme to resettle refugees who have fled their countries of origin. Additionally the UK operates three resettlement schemes in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees: Mandate; Gateway and the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Scheme.</p><p>We continue to work closely with our EU partners, to develop a comprehensive approach that will help reduce the pull factor. We are also seeking to disrupt those criminal gangs engaged in people smuggling ad trafficking. There will be an EU/Africa conference in Valletta in November. Of this, £111 million has been allocated to provide protection, psychosocial support and education for children affected by the crisis in Syria and the region. This includes funding to establish women and children’s centres in Iraq– which provide counselling and support for women, and safe spaces for children to play and learn. In Syria, the UK is supporting children with food, shelter and health. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/06/2015 answer text <p>In November 2014, Defra published the National Pollinator Strategy which forms a framework for collective action to help manage and raise awareness of the pressures facing bees and other pollinators. The Strategy seeks to address key gaps in our understanding about the status of pollinators, identifies specific policy and evidence actions for government and others, and also identifies actions that everyone can take to help expand food, shelter and nest sites. To raise public awareness, a ‘Call to Action’, ‘Bees’ Needs: Food and a Home’ was launched in July 2014. This is a simple message to all land managers on the essential needs of pollinators and how to fulfil them. Defra will publish a ‘one year on’ progress report on the Strategy in autumn 2015.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>As set out in the Strategy, our work over the next five years to develop the evidence base will allow us to identify pollinator trends with greater certainty, so that we can assess progress with our outcomes and identify where further action should be taken. Through WRAP, the Government is working with food manufacturers and retailers, including all the major UK supermarkets, to meet targets to reduce food waste from households and the grocery supply chain under the Courtauld Commitment.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>All signatories reported a reduction of 7.4% in food supply chain waste between 2010 and 2012 (there were also targets on household food waste and packaging waste).
