The Care Quality Commission regulates health and adult social care providers in England and has published data about the number of organisations it regulates in its business plan, which is available at: <a href="http://www.cqc.org.uk/content/business-plan-shaping-future" target="_blank">http://www.cqc.org.uk/content/business-plan-shaping-future</a> The Data Protection Act 1998 requires every organisation in England that processes personal information to register with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), unless they are exempt. Information about the number of health and care organisations required to register with the ICO is not held centrally. Information about how much revenue has been generated by registered medical practitioners in the United Kingdom from processing personal data is not held centrally.
