answer text <p>The Government published its first-ever Hospitality Strategy in July 2021. The Strategy set out twenty-two commitments to support the sector across a range of policy areas, grouped into three themes: Reopening, Recovery, and Resilience.</p><p> </p><p>This Department launched the Hospitality Sector Council to oversee the delivery of the strategy, and BEIS officials and I continue to work with the Council and the sector to deliver the strategy commitments.</p><p> </p><p>The Government engages regularly with hospitality businesses and organisations to understand the pressing issues that they face, including cost pressures and supply chain disruptions.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Subsidy Control Act 2022, once commenced, will require that a subsidy not be mis-used and provides mechanisms for recovery were this to occur. Until the Act is commenced, the provisions of the Trade and Cooperation Agreement with the EU, which contains similar provisions, have binding effect.</p><p> </p><p>The purpose of a subsidy is to achieve a specific change in behaviour to facilitate a specific policy objective, not to give the Government ongoing leverage over how a company conducts its affairs. It is for other areas of law to set out the limits of acceptable corporate behaviour.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government continues to monitor labour market trends and consider their wider implications. The UK labour market is currently performing strongly with high employment and low unemployment.</p><p> </p><p>The Government recognises that many self-employed people have encountered challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic but has supported the self-employed through the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) which paid out over £28 billion across all five grants to nearly 3 million self-employed individuals and has been one of the most generous schemes for the self-employed in the world.</p><p> </p><p>The Government remains committed to ensuring that the UK continues to be one of the best places in the world to work and grow a business.</p> more like this
