answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/09/2017 answer text <p>Safety is the primary concern of the smart metering programme. Energy suppliers are responsible for installing smart meters and are required to comply with a number of regulations and other requirements that relate to the safety of installations and appliances. These include the Gas Safety (Installations and Use) Regulations (1998), the Meter Asset Managers’ Code of Practice (MAMCoP) and the Meter Operators Code of Practice Agreement (MOCOPA) which set out the roles, responsibilities and expectations of meter installers when safety issues are identified during meter installation visits.</p><p>The Government have also put in place additional requirements through the Smart Metering Installation Code of Practice (SMICoP) which require energy suppliers to ensure that installers are appropriately trained. Engineers fitting smart meters undergo extensive training and testing to achieve the level of skills and qualifications necessary. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/09/2017 answer text <p>The Working Group on Product Recalls and Safety that I set up last year to further improve the safety of white goods and the recalls system, made its final recommendations in July.</p><p>Actions are already underway to implement a number of the Group’s recommendations including tasking BSI (British Standards Institution) with making available a code of practice on recalls by the end of the year.
