answer text <p>All higher education providers in the UK must meet rigorous national quality requirements for higher education. The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) measures excellence in addition to these requirements and is voluntary; therefore all participating providers received at least a Bronze award.</p><p> </p><p>As TEF is voluntary, if a provider has no TEF award this does not necessarily signify a lack of quality, as it may have decided not to take part.</p> more like this

answer text <p>We believe that the current funding arrangements are unfair and we remain committed to changing them. We will work with Parliament to bring forward proposals that command a consensus. We are considering the more than 25,000 responses we received to the second stage to National Funding Formula consultation, and will publish our response in due course.</p><p> </p><p>As set out in the first stage to the consultation, a national funding formula – one which would directly set the budget for each school – would remove the requirement for local authorities to set a local schools funding formula. Removing the requirement for local authorities to set local formulae would require a change to the School Standards and Framework Act 1998.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Teachers’ pay is based on recommendations made by the School Teachers’ Review Body (SRTB).</p><p>The SRTB, which reports to the Secretary of State on an annual basis, considers evidence from a range of stakeholders before making their recommendations.</p><p> </p><p>As stated in the Written Ministerial Statement on 10 July 2017 the Secretary of State has accepted the STRB’s recommendations for this year subject to the consultation, which commenced on 10 July 2017 and closes on 28 July 2017. When the consultation is complete the final School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document for 2017-18 will be published.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Schools receive funding for rates based on what they actually pay, so if a school’s rates increase, it will receive additional funding to compensate. This has not changed since the business rates revaluation which took effect on 1 April 2017.</p><p> </p><p>For maintained schools, local authorities withhold from individual schools’ allocations that portion of their funding to cover their liability to business rates.</p> more like this
