answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/07/2017 answer text <p>Non-continuation rates for UK students at English Higher Education Institutions are lower than in 2009/10, including for the most disadvantaged students. Analysis by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) has found that students’ age, subject studied and entry qualifications account for a substantial portion of the gap between the most and least disadvantaged students. The analysis is available here: <a href="http://www.hefce.ac.uk/analysis/ncr/nhe/" target="_blank">http://www.hefce.ac.uk/analysis/ncr/nhe/</a>.</p><p> </p><p>We want to continue to see reduced non-continuation rates for all students. The Higher Education and Research Act 2017 requires institutions to publish admissions and retention data by gender, ethnicity and socio-economic background, and this greater transparency will help the Higher Education sector make further progress to build on what has already been achieved. The Secretary of State recently spoke at the launch of the Social Mobility Employers Index. The Index highlights how employers, including government, are taking steps to ensure talented people from all works of life can access good jobs. I strongly encourage employers to sign up to the Index next year.</p><p> </p><p>We are also taking further specific action. In the Industrial Strategy we set out that we are reviewing the current careers offer for people of all ages. We will build on the best international evidence to publish a comprehensive careers strategy later this year.</p><p>The Careers &amp; Enterprise Company will also ensure every secondary school in an Opportunity Area has an Enterprise Adviser, and will provide, for every young person, four encounters with the world of work. Many providers that cannot or do not want to run provision from 8.00 a.m. until 6.00 p.m. throughout the year work in partnership to make this kind of offer available to parents. We have supported this approach, for example by publishing practical advice on working in partnership, and by allowing childminders to spend up to half of their time working on non-domestic premises.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, local authorities have a statutory duty to secure sufficient childcare for working parents for children aged 0-14 (or up to 18 for disabled children). answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/07/2017 answer text <p>The Apprenticeship Levy will be paid by all UK employers with an annual pay bill of over £3 million and is charged at 0.5% of an employer’s annual pay bill.</p><p>The Apprenticeship Levy supports our commitment to reaching 3 million apprenticeship starts in England by 2020. Employers in England who pay the levy will have an apprenticeship account. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/07/2017 answer text <p>The Government will be investing £1 billion extra every year for the early years entitlements, including over £300 million a year to increase local authorities hourly funding rates. Local authorities are required to pass the vast majority of their funding on to early years providers so that they can deliver the entitlements on a sustainable and high-quality basis. The Government’s increased level of funding is based on the “Review of Childcare Costs” which looked at both the current costs of childcare provision and the implications of future cost pressures including the National Living Wage.
