marginal tax rate is the proportion of an extra pound of income that would be paid
in Income Tax, which depends on their total taxable income and its composition.</p><p>5
The Survey of Personal Incomes (SPI) is based on a sample of taxpayers. Values in
the table based on particularly small numbers of taxpayers have been suppressed, to
protect the confidentiality of individuals’ information.</p><p>6 Symbols used in the
