answer text <p>Data are not collected in the format requested.</p><p> </p><p>In 2015, Public Health England (PHE) contributed towards a paper with Health Protection Research Unit staff which reported that based on analysis of data for the period 2001-10, the annual average of the accidental non-fire-related carbon monoxide (CO) hospital admissions was 250; the paper can be viewed here:</p><p> </p><p><a href="https://academic.oup.com/jpubhealth/article/38/1/76/2362876" target="_blank">https://academic.oup.com/jpubhealth/article/38/1/76/2362876</a></p><p> </p><p>There have been no further estimations.</p><p> </p><p>Annually, there are around 25 deaths from accidental CO poisoning in England and Wales.</p><p> </p><p>The data about the number of deaths from accidental poisoning by carbon monoxide in England and Wales from 2007-16 can be found in the latest Cross Government Group On Gas Safety And Carbon Monoxide Awareness 2017 report, which can be viewed here:</p><p> </p><p><a href="http://www.hse.gov.uk/gas/domestic/cross-government-group.htm" target="_blank">http://www.hse.gov.uk/gas/domestic/cross-government-group.htm</a></p><p> </p><p>PHE is involved in a number of activities aimed at improving knowledge and awareness of the risks and harms of CO.
