answer text <p><del class="ministerial">The way 800 loyal and experienced workers were treated by P&amp;O Ferries was shameful and utterly unacceptable. There is no excuse for their actions – and we continue to hold them to account.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">The Department for Transport has conducted a thorough review of government contracts with P&amp;O Ferries, finding that they are not providing any direct services to UK Government. One contract between the Home Office and P&amp;O Ferries was terminated.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">Whilst the review has concluded, if a contract were to emerge elsewhere which has not been identified through this process, then we would take appropriate action.</del></p><p> </p><p><ins class="ministerial">The way 800 loyal and experienced workers were treated by P&amp;O Ferries was shameful and utterly unacceptable. We continue to hold them to account.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial"> </ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The Department for Transport has previously conducted a thorough review of ongoing government contracts with P&amp;O Ferries, and one ongoing contract between the Home Office and P&amp;O Ferries was terminated at our request. We cannot rule out the possibility of Departments procuring P&amp;O Ferries’ services through, for instance, internal commercial booking agents for official business on an ad-hoc basis.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial"> </ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">If any publicly funded ongoing contract were to emerge which has not been identified through this process, then we would take appropriate action.</ins></p>

answer text <p>Air services between the United Kingdom and other countries are governed by a portfolio of bilateral air services agreements, which set the framework in which airlines from both countries operate. Our agreement with Pakistan does not place any restrictions on the frequency or nature of direct air services. Any airline from the UK or Pakistan, designated under this agreement, can operate between any points in the two countries.</p><p> </p><p>However, it is for individual airlines to determine whether to take advantage of the rights and routes available to them within any air services agreement. Market conditions, such as the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, often affect the commercial considerations of airlines.</p><p> </p><p>My Department’s officials and the Civil Aviation Authority stand ready to assist any UK or Pakistan airline which wants to operate between the two countries.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Government welcomes innovative retrofit technology for converting internal combustion engine vehicles to zero emission. This will be an important element in reducing road transport emissions, helping to bridge the gap in the journey to net zero. answer text <p>A total of 31 Bus Service Improvement Plans (BSIPs), representing 34 local authority areas, have been selected for funding from the £1.2 billion new dedicated funding announced in April to level up local bus services.</p><p>Local Transport Authorities (LTAs) not in receipt of BSIP funding have been offered a further capacity support grant to strengthen their in-house capacity; will be able to access practical assistance, including training, under the auspices of the new Bus Centre of Excellence; and can apply for other government funding sources to improve their bus services and grow bus patronage.</p><p>In the Levelling-Up White Paper, the Government recognised the benefits of long-term funding and has committed to simplifying the funding landscape for local authorities.</p> more like this
