<p>We are increasing the number of police officers by 20,000 by March 2023. The increase over three years is unprecedented and reflects the biggest recruitment drive in decades.</p><p>Police forces across England and Wales have already recruited 8,771 additional officers, exceeding the first target of 6,000 additional officers by March 2021.</p>
