answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/06/2021 answer text <p>Parliament received representations from the Lord Advocate on a range of drug policy issues, including drug consumption rooms, as part of the Scottish Affairs Select Committee’s Inquiry into Problem Drug Use in Scotland in 2019. The Government published its response in 2020 and can be found here: <a href="https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm5801/cmselect/cmscotaf/698/69802.htm" target="_blank">Problem drug use in Scotland: Government response to the Committee’s First Report of Session 2019 - Scottish Affairs Committee - House of Commons (parliament.uk)</a>. The Home Office has not received any direct representations from the Lord Advocate or the Crown Office on the issue of drug consumption rooms.</p><p>Tackling drug misuse is a priority for this government and it clear that action is needed across all four nations to reduce the harms caused. We are committed to working across the UK and have regular contact with the Scottish Government at ministerial and official level on this issue. This will establish when the first 701s will enter passenger service on SWR suburban lines, and at what rate the full fleet will be delivered. The Class 442 fleet is no longer needed to deliver SWR’s planned timetable.</p><p> </p><p>SWR has decided to withdraw the fleet with immediate effect and cease the programme of modifications that were underway to avoid incurring further costs to the taxpayer to reintroduce and operate these trains. The aborted cost of the 442 project is £32m and the withdrawal of the fleet is expected to save circa £8m per year.</p><p> </p><p>The Class 442s would have been withdrawn in August 2024 in any event as the trains are not compliant with requirements for Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM).
