answer text <p>The total number of people discharged from hospitals in England between 19 March 2020 and 31 March 2020 was 341,562.</p><p>The Government does not hold data on the total number of patients discharged from hospitals to care homes and nursing homes. We are working closely with local authorities, the care sector and NHS England to understand the impact of COVID-19 on care homes, and ensure everyone has access to the right care in the most appropriate setting for their needs.</p><p>This is an unprecedented global pandemic, and we will continue to work closely with the sector to keep our policies and data under review as it goes on.</p> more like this

Since this pandemic began, we have been working flat out to support the social care sector – drawing on all the levers that the Government has to help social care providers look after the people in their care. We are working closely with local authorities, the care sector and NHS England to understand the impact of COVID-19 on care homes and ensure everyone has access to the right care, in the most appropriate setting for their needs.</p><p>The safety of residents and staff is always a priority. answer text <p>‘Admission and Care of Residents during COVID-19 Incident in a Care Home’ is the current guidance for the care sector and is live on gov.uk. This guidance sets out infection control and cohorting advice to care homes, which providers should follow to ensure that they have the confidence to receive and support residents.</p><p>We are currently reviewing and updating this guidance in line with recent policy changes and updates to other relevant guidance. We aim to publish the updated guidance shortly.</p><p>This is an unprecedented global pandemic and we continue to review our guidance in line with the latest scientific advice and emerging domestic and international evidence; this includes considering changes to infection control measures such as isolation and cohorting policies in care homes.</p><p> </p> more like this
