answer text <p>As explained in the report on the Modernising Defence Programme published in December 2018, we plan to modernise and transform our Armed Forces by embracing new and innovative technologies to ensure we retain military advantage over potential adversaries and by investing to improve the readiness and availability of defence equipment. We will spend over £186 billion on equipment and support over the decade from April 2018 to March 2028 to ensure that our Armed Forces are fit for the defence and security challenges of the future.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The hexavalent chromate compound used in paints for vehicle servicing was banned in January 2019 under the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals regulations. Work had been ongoing since 2006 to remove paints containing hexavalent chromate compounds, and the Ministry of Defence implemented this ban for the remaining few uses when it came into force. Updated instructions were provided to personnel and any remaining paints were recalled for safe disposal.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Department is in the process of finalising its preferred course of action, and no final decision has yet been made on the future location of Defence Business Services (DBS) sites in the north-west. As part of the approval process, and before a final decision is made, a full investment appraisal process will be conducted, incorporating full consultation with Local Authorities, including Blackpool Council, and other Government Departments such as the Government Property Agency.</p> more like this
