<p>In common with other operations, the costs of UK Armed Forces' contributions to
UN peacekeeping operations are calculated on a net additional basis; i.e. based on
those costs over and above existing funding that the Department would not have incurred
but for undertaking the activity. The annual cost of our contribution in Cyprus was
£17.8 million per year up to and including financial year 2016-17. The cost of contributions
in South Sudan and Somalia in financial year 2016-17 (the first year of activity)
was £10.4 million and £5.2 million respectively.</p>
