This will be spent on areas of work including financial services and customs, ensuring that the government delivers an orderly and successful exit from the EU. This funding will support the department in preparing for departure from the EU, including for new customs arrangements. HMRC will continue to work with HMT as progress is made and keep the department’s requirements under review accordingly. This will allow us to strengthen our diplomatic network so it is better able to engage with our European partners in support of a successful EU Exit. We will also strengthen our bilateral relationships as we prepare to leave the EU, and will increase our staffing in London to work on a range of related issues. This will fund preserving three Off-Shore Patrol Vessels, should they be needed to control and enforce UK waters and fisheries. It also includes some EU Exit preparedness funding for UK defence bases in Europe.
