The follow up to the independent review by Stephen Shaw CBE into the welfare in detention of vulnerable persons started on 4 September 2017. The final report is a matter for Mr Shaw, but the findings of his earlier review included recommendations relating to the use of detention and legal safeguards against excessive use of detention.
